Contrary to popular belief, social media and traditional media are not mutually exclusive. You can actually combine the two to maximise results! Here’s why achieving the ultimate media yin and yang can be good for business.
Added credibility. While digitisation is the future, having an actual brick-and-mortar shop adds credibility to the business. This is because clients have an actual place to go to once they have needs and concerns about your product or services. It’s the same way with the media. An ideal mix of social and traditional media lends an air of authenticity to the business. Reliability and trustworthiness? These are time-tested client magnets.
Widens your reach. Anything that gets the word out even farther is always a plus. Remember, not all folks are netizens so bringing your campaign to traditional media will have its obvious advantages.
Promotes name recall. Having a catchy campaign everywhere and anywhere will help you achieve name recall. Isn’t that the sweet spot we want to achieve? So make sure you employ whatever means possible to get those campaigns going!
Now that we know the why, we now move on to something equally important – the HOW. How do we combine social media and traditional media for optimal results?
Radio and podcasts. There are people who still listen to the good, old radio. Pair that with podcasts and you’ve got a cool combination of the old and the new.
Television ads and YouTube/TikTok. Anything you put on TV you can also tweak to fit the YouTube and TikTok populace and vice versa. They are both visual content so that would be an easy and intuitive switch.
Newspaper ads and online ads. Both are in written form and should be short and sweet. These are perfect for social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Magazines and blog posts with rich SEO content. This is where influencer marketing can come in. You can have a feature about influencers with prominent product placing printed on a magazine as well as on an online blog. Don’t forget to make SEO-friendly content!
Real-life networking and teleconferencing. Given the pandemic, face-to-face interaction with your clients may be impossible for the next few months. That’s why teleconferencing tools like Zoom and Meet have become hugely popular. Time to tap into this type of engagement as well!
When it comes to social media and traditional media, you do not have to make the difficult choice of having to choose between the two. By seamlessly combining them, you get the most out of your marketing efforts.
